According to Iran Press, Bagh Sheikh Saveh Caravanserai or Abdul Ghafar Khan Caravanserai dating back to the Zand dynasty and early Qajar period (1751-1794) was built on the route from Qom, Isfahan to Hamedan, Qazvin, and Tabriz.Abdul Ghaffar Khan Historical Caravanserai which also includes a cistern and a Tekkiyeh is located in the historical village of Bagh Sheikh in Saveh city in the Markazi Province of Iran.
Saveh is located about 100 km southwest of Tehran.
The main reason for the importance of Bagh Sheikh caravanserai is its historical period because there are few caravanserai left in Iran from the Zand dynasty period.
The architectural features of the Bagh Sheikh Caravanserai played an important role in its registration in the World Heritage List, and the unique feature of this historical building is a beacon-shaped pavilion inside the caravanserai.
At night, lights were lit inside the pavilion so that travelers coming from afar could see the location of the caravanserai.Bagh Sheikh Caravanserai has an area of about 4,800 square meters, and due to its architecture, it is considered one of the four porch caravansaries of Iran's hot and dry climate.
About 20 caravanserais have been identified in the central province, the oldest of which is related to the historical period of Al-Buyeh and the newest one to the end of the Qajar period.
So far, eleven caravanserais of the central province have been registered in the list of national works of Iran.
Caravanserai is one of the historical and touristic attractions of Iran, and tourists and history lovers are very interested in visiting Caravanserai, including Bagh Sheikh.
